custom order

I just finished this handbag for a custom order and am really pleased with the results. The customer requested the deep eggplant color and specified that she likes the rust, apricot, buttery yellow, and purple colors for the flowers. What luck! My favorite colors to work with!
She also requested a velcro closure-which I don't usually do- but still wanted the corozo nut button as an accent. I love these buttons especially when I can layer them in the different colors. This one got a plum colored one topped with a sliver shaped one in orange.
Since the front was so heavily decorated I went a little sparser on the back.
It gives the purse two different looks.

Very time consuming, but very satisfying to work on. I have listed it in my etsy shop as a reserve-when my customer gets back she can purchase it there. If she decides against it I will remove the reserve and leave it in the shop. On to other projects!

bags on etsy

I decided to work on some pouch bags to list on etsy. These two were finished a while ago
and it's a nice break from the usual. I particularly like the deep red of this wool. The little two tone leaves were fun to do.
I used both size 8 and size 5 perle cotton on this one which gave it more texture.
Both are listed in my etsy shop. I'm currently working on one in blue that I might add some beautiful beads to from my ever increasing stash. I have a show in June I need to stock up for, so back to work!

Embroidery Project

I decided to revisit a type of needlework I did years ago; a purely decorative item for my first 'bedroom' piece. The samplers I did in the past were mostly cross stitch. This one is truly embroidered using satin, stem,chain, and french knot stitches. The design is original and I still have some work to do in the corners.

When I finish that I will stretch and frame it and it will be ready to hang. I think the next bedroom piece will be embroidered pillow cases with possibly crocheted trim.

Kitchen Sets

Another method used on flour sack towels. Some of these are adapted patterns from old embroidery magazines and others are original designs. I love the look of what I think of as farmhouse or cottage style, especially in the kitchen.

I plan to do more of these sets in a variety of colors and patterns. Some will have the nailbrushes and others will include a pack of recipe cards, handmade soap or maybe a vintage kitchen item. These are for sale in our lollishop and on etsy.
